Are you too BUSY? Don’t have time for a full class? Here’s this week’s 10-Minute Warm-Up to get you moving, so you can still get on with the demands of your day:
(Just click on the videos above; they’re ready to play.)
Are you SERIOUS about your balance?
...or do you just figure it's one of those things where "you've got it or you don't?"
I hope you're not stuck with the latter sort of thinking, but if you are, I'll insist that things could be DIFFERENT, and much improved.
Crow's the arm balance that almost everyone knows, if they've ever taken a yoga class. It's a solid shape, interesting and challenging when you're new to it. A lot of people stop there, figuring they do it well enough and it's hard enough already, but I'd recommend you push a bit further.
All of the basics of crow are present, but the One-Legged Crow is much harder, and you'll realize that maybe your crow's been a little bit lackadaisical, somewhere to just hang out for a while.
I'm not going to try and talk you into becoming an acrobat -- I'm just a yoga teacher, after all -- but even if you think you're at too basic a level, I encourage you to give The Harder Thing a try.
It'll probably take some work to REALLY get it down, if you decide to go after it, though.
Anyway, this flow will:
-- put weight on your hands
-- strengthen your wrists
-- work your compression
-- light up your glutes
-- harden your core
...and maybe induce a little bit of trembling, a little bit of shaking here & there...
It'll be fun. It'll be satisfying once you're through it, so why not start right now?
